Scunthorpe United Have a Dig at Devon Football Fans

A tale of Twitter and a football club. Scunthorpe United yesterday entertained AFC Wimbledon in a League 2 game at Glandford Park. With the Irons top of the league, and having won 7 home games out of 12 against the Dons with only 3 wins on the road, they were largely tipped as a home banker. So, many betting football fans included Scunthorpe on their accumulator.

Scunthorpe drew nil nil with Wimbledon. Thereby crashing many of those betting punters accumulators. Twitter provided the outlet for their frustrations. Some of the unprintable ones made reference to the act that there is a very English swearword in their name, as to the others, some of those comments went as follows (names withheld to protect the guilty):-
