Tisdale on Cheltenham Defeat: “I can’t believe we have lost”
Another Cheltenham game and another defeat. This time 1-0 with former City goal scorer Jamie Cureton giving the Robins the lead in the 13th minute. In the personal duel between Cheltenham’s Mark Yates and Paul Tisdale, Yates has outsmarted Tisdale 3 times out of 3, with his side scoring 5 goals and Tisdale’s firing blanks on each occasion.
With just 1 win in 11, Paul Tisdale’s side is slipping down the table and are only above Plymouth Argyle on goal difference, something that would have unthinkable in October.

Quotes
Paul Tisdale said after the defeat:-
There were lots of positives there but we need results. We certainly did a lot of the right things but it is all about goals in the back of the net.
It was frustrating because we have conceded a poor goal although it is hard to criticise when you have created so many chances and hit the target so many times.
The defence and goalkeeper are culpable for the first goal in the same way as the forwards are culpable for not sticking it in the back of the bet in the second half.
But they scored, we didn’t, and we have to march on towards the next game. I can’t believe we have lost 1-0 but we did and that’s a fact.
Mark Yates on their win
It was the old cliche of a game of two halves. We had a brilliant first half and we should have been out of sight but they were much better than us in the second half. We probably needed an ugly 1-0 win and we certainly got that with the second half performance. We need to work out what we say to them and get the right message across. We didn’t say anything or do anything different but we gave them (Exeter) a little bit of impetuous right after half time but the win is testament to my players.
There were plenty of goalscoring opportunities but we need to be ruthless and after the first half it would have been wrong if we had not won the game but in the second half we weren’t anywhere near how we want to be. Scoring goals is the hardest thing in the world and they (Exeter) haven’t achieved it today because my men were desperate for them not too and Scotty Brown was in decent form.
We had a bit of luck at time but I think we have earned that and it is about time we had some.
