Parkin on Wycombe: “I was very close to joining permanently”

Sam Parkin was invited to Tuesday’s JPT tie at the County Ground to witness the game between Swindon Town and Wycombe Wanderers. The 32 year old has played 142 times for Swindon Town scoring 73 goals, between 2002 and 2005. parkin_bennetHe’d been at Wycombe Wanderers on loan from Chelsea between November 2000 and February 2001, playing 13 times and scoring 2 goals. He was also involved with Wycombe’s run to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Writing in the Swindon Town match day programme he revealed:-

I have fond memories of my loan spell at Wycombe in the 2000-01 season and particularly the wonderful run to The FA Cup semi final. I was very close to joining permanently and Adams Park is a ground I have always enjoyed visiting since as an opposition player.
