Saturday’s game against was the One Game One Community’s designated match and this year they decided that a celebration of women and girls in to football would be the theme.

It all went very well and at half time a couple of teams from the girls academy enjoyed a shoot out in front of the Flybe stand.

However much to the surprise of some in the crowd the next song up over the ground tannoy was Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. There’d been much debate about whether the song should be banned because its lyrics (and in particular its video) promoted rape. Radio Exe and the Student Guild at Exeter University had been debating the matter, with Radio Exe suspending the playing of the song and students voting on whether it should be banned from campus.

The lyrics being the problem such as:-

I know you want it.

You’re a good girl

I hate these blurred lines

When this was raised with the Club they’ve said

Clearly an unfortunate occurrence; an innocent mistake –  lack of awareness and not thought through.

Have had assurance it will not be played again.

More care to be taken with what is played.

The One Group One Community have raised this matter with the Club and are content with the response.
