Quotes

Paul Tisdale speaking to the Club website:-

It’s a good point Considering the two games we’ve had – Scunthorpe away and then here at Oxford a few days later – we’ve oxford_exeter_pic1had two clean sheets and some very considered play. There were some tired legs, it has to be said – but I thought we played very pragmatically.

We lacked maybe a touch of burst to our game which we had on Saturday, but I can’t be too critical.

We played very safely today – I’d have liked us to have 10 per cent more and more push and drive in attacked areas, but these lads have worked very hard. We defended very well and did the basics very well again.

Scot Bennett said:-

There are a lot of players that can move around. Pat [Baldwin] was at right-back in the first half and then I got moved out there after, and we started with a five and then became a four.gow_keohane

But we’re all together at the minute, and if that’s the case, we can keep playing for each other and keep moving forward.

You’ve always got a chance if you can keep a clean-sheet. We had a chat and we wanted to keep more than we did last year because we sat down and worked out how many we had kept last season.

Chris Wilder on the Oxford United website:-

It was a decent game of football. I thought it was just lacking a goal, from us especially. I was pleased oxford_exeter_thumbwith the way we played overall for the full 90 minutes. We got in and around their penalty area more than they did to us. I don’t think Clarkey’s really had anything to do in the second half and we kept asking the question. It was pretty similar to the second half at Accrington really. We created quite a bit, we just lacked that final pass and that little bit of quality in and around the box.
