FA Cup 2013/14: On to the Preliminary Round. A Preview

The extra preliminary round played a fortnight ago was not kind to Devon’s Clubs. Willand Rovers lost 4-0 to Larkhall Athletic, Buckland Athletic lost 3-0 to Wells City, Barnstable Town lost 2-0 to Brislington, and Tavistock lost 1-0 to St Blazey. 2 teams progress: Plymouth Parkway beat Saltash Utd 2-1; and Ilfracombe Town beat AFC St Austell 4-1.

So, on to the preliminary round. A Devon derby, with south playing north. Plymouth Parkway will host Ilfracombe Town. The home team with a decent pedigree in the FA Cup will be favourites to progress. The winners will be away to Clevedon Town or Bishop Sutton.

Tiverton Town start the FA Cup in this round. The Southern Leaguue Division One South & West side have had a poor start to the season, despite Exeter City’s former defender Steve Tully shoring up their defence. A tricky tie away at Larkhall Athletic awaits, with the home team favourites to progress. An away tie at Bideford awaits the winner.
