Virgin Media Deal Helps Conference Football Supporters and EPL Fans

After much procrastination a deal has been reached between BT Sport and Virgin Media which means Virgin Media customers will have access to the BT Sport channels. This will be good news for football fans ahead of the start of the English Premier League this Saturday. Though Virgin Media customers were denied the opportunity to see a great game between Cambridge United and FC Halifax Town last Sunday.

A 3 year deal thought to have cost Virgin Media a cool £200 million, will mean that Virgin customers with the TV XL package will have instant access to the BT Sport 1 and  channels. Other customers will be able to add a package for a fee. Sky Sports customers will be charged a monthly fee for the BT Sport package.

The first EPL game to be shown live will be Liverpool v Stoke City on Saturday with a 12.45 kick off.

BT’s television boss Marc Watson said:-

BT has made a large investment in BT Sport and this is an important commercial agreement for us that recognises the excellence of the channels,” the telecom giant’s television boss Marc Watson said. “We are keen to make our services as widely available as possible and to do so via wholesale arrangements. We are doing this with Sport.

The next Skrill Conference Premier game to be shown live on BT Sport will be on Sunday 26th August, at 5.30pm covering the  Hyde FC v Grimsby Town game.
