Spitfires Snap up Stuart Fleetwood

Conference South side Eastleigh have signed Stuart Fleetwood on a 1 year deal. Fleetwood was released by Conference Premier side Luton Town at the end of last season.

Eastleigh are one of the favourites for promotion this season, after falling at the end last season.

Fleetwood started his career at Cardiff City, but made his name at Forest Green. Charlton Athletic snapped him up, but he only made the 1 appearance for them. After loans with Cheltenham Town and Brighton & Hove Albion he ended up at St James Park for 2 spells. The first spell he made 9 appearance and scored 3 goals, which included 2 wonder goals against Darlington, which helped City get promoted to League 1. He returned the following season, and made 30 appearances for the Grecians, but only netted 5 times.

Charlton released him at the end of the 2009/10 season and he Hereford Utd took him on. A relatively successful season with the Bulls saw him signed by Conference side Luton Town. Despite his goals he was unable to help the Hatters to promotion and the new manager didn’t see Fleetwood as part of his plan for the new squad he is building.

Spitfire fans expect to see him in action in Saturday in their friendly against Aldershot Town.
