City at Home to QPR in the League Cup

The draw was made this morning, and yet again Exeter City were given a home tie. In 6 seasons all 7 draws have given the Grecians a home tie. We’ve played QPR in that time. August 2009, when 4614 saw City lost 5-0 in the 1st round.

Queens Park Rangers will also be visiting for a pre-season friendly. Harry Rednapp’s side are due at the Park on Thursday 11th July.

QPR are in the 1st round of the Capital One Cup after being relegated from the Premiership after finishing bottom with just 25 points. They’ll no doubt see this as an important game to win to help restore confidence to help launch themselves to the summit of the Championship.

For Exeter City, this will be a chance for a major scalp early in the season. But our record in this competition is poor. The last 5 seasons have seen us lose 5 times, the one win coming over Yeovil Town, which bagged us a draw at home to Liverpool.

The game is likely to be played on 6th August.
