Grecians Lose 4 Players

Manager Paul Tisdale announced that 4 players are to depart from St James Park.

Rhys Evans, Guillem Bauza, Kevin Amankwaah and Mark Molesley will not be featuring for Exeter City next season.

Talking to the official site, Paul Tisdale said:

Kevin Amankwaah was one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make and one of the most difficult amankwaah_thumbconversations I’ve had. He has been fantastic for us – so that has been particularly difficult.  He’s really enjoyed his year and we’ve enjoyed having him – he’s got some really good qualities – I think he’s the type of player teams look at and say ‘that’s the one to watch and be careful of’. That’s the disappointing one for me – especially when he walks out of the office on crutches, that one hurt.

Tisdale on Rhys Evans:-

… and I’ve been impressed this year with Rhys Evans. He seems a better ‘keeper, he seems more confident after coming off the back of a poor year prior to that, his training has been fantastic and a really good professional.  He’s pushed Artur all the way and he’s really helped Christy Pym on the training ground. He leaves us with a smile on his face – he’s got a new challenge around the corner somewhere. He’s definitely good enough to play League football and I’d have loved to have kept him.

Guillem’s had an unusual two years with us. He and I will both be disappointed that he’s not done more – he’s been blighted with injury and never got a run in the side. I know he’s a good player, but it’s just not worked out for him.

Tisdale on Molesley

Mark came in late in the season – on another day or another year, he’d have been a very good player to have in the squad going into next year.molesley_thumb
