Troy, a Gift from the Grecians to the Robins

News has come through from that Troy Archibald-Henville has left Exeter City to join Swindon Town in a 2 year deal.

Initially Troy joined the Grecians on loan. Making his debut away to Dagenham and Redbridge on 20 January 2009, in a 2-1 win for City. The following season we bought Troy for £75k from Spurs, a rare purchase for Exeter City.

Almost ever present, for Exeter City he has made over 100 appearances. Sent off twice for the Grecians, once in a fit of pique at Southampton and a bizarre sending off at Walsall the following season.

He’ll be remembered fondly by the 1000 City fans that went to Hillsborough in the last game of the 2010/11, where he has a mazy run from his own half and the Wednesday players just stood off him, and he coolly slotted under their goalie.

Being under 24, and having been offered a contract, we’ll be entitled to some cash. If the 2 clubs can’t agree a fee, then off to tribunal.

We of course wish him well at Swindon. He’ll be remembered for many last ditch tackles, that saved our skins.
